Time for a Reunion

Today is Mom and Dad's 60th wedding anniversary. Happy anniversary!

Dad is promising Mom a night out--taking in dinner at the Texas Roadhouse is as big a night out as Dad can handle these days. We wish you both well on your adventure tonight.

The rest of the week the "kids" are planning their trips to Pigeon Forge to get together for our first official Barton Family Reunion. We've got a cabin reserved that is supposed to sleep 26 adults (and I assume the kids are supposed to sleep on the floor if they don't qualify for adult sleeping arrangements). We've got 19 adults registered for Saturday night--and somewhere around 17 for Sunday night--and fewer for Tuesday. That makes Sunday our big day for celebrating. I'm planning to bake a big cake and we'll share a Sunday morning worship service together over the big screen TV and Nancy's leading for hymn-singing. It will be wonderful! I hope Dad knows the tunes. He's a great singer.

Then we'll cook all afternoon and evening. Hoping we'll keep it simple. Everyone has promised to bring their favorite recipes and many want to pitch in to help. It will be lots of fun working in that big two-fridge kitchen.

I'll try again to post later this evening. Since this is my first attempt at a blog, I'll be testing things out and asking forgiveness in advance for the mistakes I'll be making.

Love to all,
Aunt Kathleen
